Mission Statement:

The Stanford Venture Capital Club exists, at its core, as a student resource. Even as many of us at Stanford chose our school on the basis of its entrepreneurial reputation and its proximity to the cutting-edge atmosphere of Silicon Valley , it can still be difficult to seek out meaningful challenges without a network of support. Through partnerships with area VC firms, SVCC has forged opportunities for motivated members of the Stanford community to gain direct experience working at the forefront of the high tech economy. Our analysts produce quality results and generate value for sponsoring firms both through sheer diligence and unique insight. Our belief is that our operating model yields tangible upsides for students and firms alike, and every decision we make sets to reaffirm this conviction.

Overview:

Unlike some other business-oriented clubs on campus, SVCC selects for a small class of analysts who can truly commit to firm projects. One of the qualities we value most is reliability, and in our recruitment process we take all measures to ensure that our people will not waver on their responsibilities. The corresponding payoff for our analysts is that they have the rare privilege to “start at the top”. While we do offer a base level of training fit to experience, new analysts can expect to undergo “baptism by fire”—Within weeks of joining, they will already be sourcing real deals, conducting real due diligence, sitting in on real client meetings and engaging in a large variety of other real tasks. Once they have mastered the basics of the VC field, further opportunities emerge for members of each year's analyst class. Whether they wish to take on a school-year internship with a particular firm, arrange for a summer job within the VC field or accept a role in managing the direction and growth of the club, SVCC's leadership is eager (and well-positioned) to help.
